Lightbulb Playing Video DVDs from HDD

Hi,

I use XINE (last one) which plays my DVDs perfectly.

I'm just wondering how to play DVDs directly from my hard drive. (I have backed up the complete DVD with all its structure with dvdbackup -M bla bla...)

So, is it possible as under windoze (example: PowerDVD) to play a dvd on hard drive ?

Tried many things under Xine, but nothing that worked >__< !

Thanx.

PS: Got Slackware 9.0 working perfectly.

Welcome to LQ.

I don't know about Xine, but I imagine it would work with Mplayer. You could use mplayer -dvd 1 -dvd-device /home/me/dvdbackupfile.dvd or something. Try it.

Oh, and as for doing so under Windows - I don't know.
