playing sirius in firefox...

I'm using suse 10, and I'd like to listen to sirius through firefox. I have the mozilla-vlc package, however suse does not support above firefox 1.5. So if I want to use 2.X I have to use the non-RPM verion. My question is how do I get firefox to realize that I have the vlc plugin installed, so I can listen to sirius? Since firefox was not "installed" it is just run out of the directory that is untarred. Thanks. BTW it works in konqueror so thats why I think firefox is not aware of the plugin.
