For Fedora 10, non-free codecs and plugins are provided by the RPMFusion repository. Just enable it by installing the proper rpms:
Code:
rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rmpfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm
Then to enable mp3 support in your applications, install the following
Code:
yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly xine-lib-extras-nonfree
and for xmms specifically
Code:
yum install xmms-mp3
You can also consider to use non patented audio codecs like the OGG format, but I know that maybe you have to convert your entire collection of mp3s. Just to tell it about.
