Playing MIDI files under Mandrake

I am having trouble playing MIDI files on my computer (Mandrake 10.1). I can play mp3 files with no problem, and I can even load MIDI files into Rosegarden, but there is no audio when I try to play them.

Did you try mplayer? That little program plays almost anything.

type: mplayer -ao sdl <filename>

"-ao <driver>" is used to select the output driver. In my pc I found that sdl works fine.
type: "mplayer -ao help" for a list of audio outputs
