Playing KDE's games in Gnome

Hi all,

I recently installed Slack 10 and I was wondering if I can access KDE's games, and play them within Gnome...? I looked through the FS but cant find them, does anyone know their location. Also to totally change the subject my soundcard is giving off a high pitch squeal, aswell as actually giving me the music too. This is the first time I have ever had problems with this soundcard throughout my Linux installs, RH8, 9 Mandrake and so on, it worked each time. Anyone else had this problem...?

Many thanks in advance...

The high-pitch squeal you're hearing may be due to ALSA. Try adjusting the volume down on both your Master and PCM controls and seeing what happens.

As far as playing KDE games in GNOME, this is completely impossible... j/k ;-). Actually, this is quite simple. Just find the associated command for the game, and then you can "Run" it in GNOME (i.e "kpat" is the command for "KPatience"). You simply type in the command and press Enter :-). If you can't find a shortcut in some submenu (sometimes distros define a KDE submenu for GNOME), then you can simply add a shortcut using GNOME's menu editor. To find out the associated command for a KDE app, you can right-click the "K" and click "Menu Editor" and then examine the properties of the given shortcut for the "Command".

Thanks tk31337, managed to get the squealing to stop ( Phew! ) it was the PCM and Master volume which was causing the din, thanks. I have to say though the quality of sound appears not to be the same as it was in RH9. It might just need some tweaking, am still using xmms which I used in RH9 but I cant load the volume up or it screachs. Is it ALSA that RH9 used..?

Many thanks...
