Playing .avi files in RealPlayer on Fedora Core 2
After 3 days of scratching my head I finally figure out how to install RealPlayer on linux. Come to find out it doesn't really support much. I used windows for a long time and I'm used to playing all my media with RealPlayer. Is it possible, and if so how, to play .avi and .mpg and all other types of media with the linux RealPlayer?

hi there
did u read the INSTALL file
this is from the INSTALL file
------------------
1. `cd' to the directory containing the package's source code and type
`./configure' to configure the package for your system. If you're
using `csh' on an old version of System V, you might need to type
`sh ./configure' instead to prevent `csh' from trying to execute
`configure' itself.
Running `configure' takes awhile. While running, it prints some
messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make' to compile the package.
3. Optionally, type `make check' to run any self-tests that come with
the package.
4. Type `make install' to install the programs and any data files and
documentation.
--------------------
at the end of ./configuyreu willl asked to run a 'export ' command
make sure u run that before installing xine-ui
regards
regards

I don't have a file with that information. But heres what I did
[root@localhost root]# cd /home/dave/xine/
[root@localhost xine]# ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
I've had other programs say to run ./configure before too, but it never works. What am I screwing up? Also, do I have to install the xine frontend? I dont want the player, just the codecs.
