Second problem:
When I play it with KsCD, it does appear as if it were playing, the track length is correct, but I don't get any sound. What is causing this? Also, in Amarok, the "play audio cd" option is unavailable.
I do have a cable from the drive to the cd drive (dvd drive, to be more precise). And the cd works with windoze, so it isn't from the cd.
Any ideas anyone? Any suggestion/info is welcomed. Thanks for reading.
You are not supposed to mount audio discs because their filesystem is not supported in Linux (and most other OSes I think). The cd player app should just be able to play the disc without any mounting. If you are sure that your cable is properly connected, check your volume levels and make sure that the cd input is not muted.
Is /dev/hdc correct? It depends on your distro. Mine (PCLinuxOS) is media:/hdc and common is /dev/cdrom. If you haven't tried this click on Extras then CD-ROM device, thats' for KsCD. However if the cd-rom is not mounting at all you'll have to wait for one of the experts here.
everything in kmix is turned up. the weird part is that the analyzer bars in xmms don't move. so I guess it's not a volume problem.
Maybe I'm wrong, but don't /dev/hdc and /dev/cdrom point to the same thing? Anyway, tried both. And I played with extras from kscd too, nothing useful.
Thanks for the quick replies. Any other ideas anyone?
