play .vob from HardDisk

I would like to know if i can play a vob file from de harddisk, i don have DVD player in my PC but i can download somw VOB file on the net, but before e do that i would like to now if i play.

I was reading that you have to encorder, can i play without do that???

I have mplayer install with the

and all essecncial codecs find in the mplayer codecs, is that enought???

You should be able to. If Mplayer doesn't work for you try Xine. If that still doesn't work I would suspect that the files you downloaded are not good. The only time that I see Xine using libdvdcss is when I'm viewing a movie from the dvd, if I rip it to harddisk and then watch it, libdvdcss isn't being used, as far as I know.
