play audio mp3 files from command line? runlevel <5


Hey
is there any command line command (not a GUI front end) that will play MP3's if/when i;m stuck out of X environment? fiddling

i googled but my google skills failed me. and gave me every single MP3 encoder ever made
sorry

I believe aplay will handle mp3 files, along with several other formats. www.freshmeat.net is a good place to look for programs when google doesn't help.

Both mpg123 / mpg321 both come as standard with a lot of distros.

kewl thanks fellas

mpg123 /home/*/*.mp3
and
mplayer /home/*/*.mp3

both work at the command line and play audio files
