Pine and images

I use Pine to read my e-mail, but some of the mail i get has pictures in it, not as attachment, but as part of the e-mail. In Pine is this as:
"[emcocktl.gif] * k a e w [emfemale.gif]"

Is there a way to view these pics, using an external program? To somehow "extract" them from the e-mail and pipe them to display or feh to view them?
