Pidgin remain signed on configuration
Running RHEL4. Upgraded from Gaim to Pidgin. With Gaim, when started from the internet menu, gaim would start, log into various services (aim, yahoo, etc) and place itself in notification bar on Gnome. When clicked on, it opens the buddy list. When buddy list is closed, you remain signed into the services. You would quit(or unckeck the account boxes) to signout.
With Pidgin, there doesn't seem to be this capability out of the box. When buddy list is closed, I get signed out. What am I missing? Pluggin or configuration??
Thanks
Jerry

I use pidgin and I don't experience the problem you seem to be having. It auto logs me on to all my accounts and doesn't disconnect me when minimised to the systray. I don't know how you managed to do an 'upgrade' but i would suggest a completely fresh install of pidgin.

I don't mean minimized to system tray. I mean when buddy list is closed, the app signs me out. Gaim installed with RHEL didn't do this. Kind of like using aol im on windows. You can close the buddy list but still remain logged in.
By the way, I did do an install of Pidgin (just meant 'upgrade') as in update to gaim.

Ok, so after a little research, it appears this nice functionality was provided in 1.5.0 Gaim with a pluggin - System Tray Icon 1.5.0 (docklet.so).
Anyone know if this type of functionality is still around?
- An icon placed in system tray when Pidgin is started and signed on, stays active even when buddy list is closed.

Under tools--> preferences--> interface you have to select show system tray icon Always. You can then click the close button, and still remain logged in.

Beautiful!
That's the answer. I question myself now why I changed the default initially. I guess I thought that meant something different.
Thanks for your help!
