Pidgin is stucked in version 2.4.3 in Debian Lenny

I am using Debian 5.0.4 + LXDE, and I just install pidgin with apt, but somehow, the repository seems only have version 2.4.3, but without the updated one.

Anybody know why?

Er, because you're using Lenny. Part of the definition of a stable release is that software only gets security patches, not new features.

How do I get the latest pidgin with apt repository?

You're in luck, 2.70 is in lenny-backports.
