Pidgin - inconsistent behaviour since last week's msn issues....

As the title states, Pidgin just doesn't seem to want to play nice all the time.

Often, on startup, it'll take forever to connect (to msn, yahoo is fine), and sometimes simply won't connect, without any kind of error message.

I've updated to most current stable 2.5.4

otoh, finch seems to connect okay.

Any other client I've tried doesn't seem to have any connection issues, and I would gladly switch clients if I could find one that supports all the protocols that pidgin does.

Ayttm seems the most promising (other than a libjasper issue that I can't seem to solve), but it's fugly.

I've also tried things like turning on the http proxy, feeding it through squid, etc., but either it works sometimes, or it doesn't work at all.

Is anyone else finding these same problems, and/or does anyone have any suggestions?

cheers,

I have 2 problems with msn pidgin.
1st: The slow connection compared to amsn pidgin is very slow.
2nd: Always crashes on msn pidgin after a long chat or sending files and receiving many files.

and in the other hand yahoo pidgin works perfect very fast connection and no crashes.
