Picasa is now software that runs on GNU/Linux. It's gratis, but Google did contribute some code (mostly WINE-related): http://code.google.com/wine.html

I read on slashdot that this is only available to the USA unless gotten off of mirrors.

It's available for all countries (I live in Costa Rica and was able to download it), but in English.

I install it and so far it's doing good enough. Although alpha (basically uses WINE instead of Qt, GTK or other more 'native toolkit').

This has been my fave program in windows. Now I have it in linux. WOW. Thankyou Picasa.

I won't touch it unless they produce native Linux binary.

i did install it 3 times ; first with rpm2tgz to change into slack format(i use slackware)as root ...once more as user(binary)...once more the binary as root .....same result...i am congratulated for a successfull install and when i try to run it nothing happens , no errors messages...zilch.....maybe because my old kernel 2.4.26...oh well......it would have been nice for the red eyes issue though .i<ll give it a few more tries later.

It's good news, but until Google make a beta native Linux binary I will be using digiKam from now on.

Odd. I have 2.4.31 and ran the "loki-style" installer as root and it installed fine. Do you get any error messages if you run it through the command line?
