PHPNuke 7.7 and SendMail

I am currently running Fedora 1, ( I know I'm a little behind) and PHP Nuke 7.7. In order for a user to register, a notification will be sent out to them after they create their account. This is where I am having trouble.

I am attempting to get sendmail up and running, but things are not going to well. I guess since I am a newbie in this area I must be doing something wrong. My whole goal is to get the smtp to send the email out to the user. If I understand things correctly I should be able to adjust my sendmail.mc file. If possible I would like to alter the dn1 define ('SMART_HOST', 'smtp.your.provider') to be define('SMART_HOST', 'smtp-rochester.rr.com'). This is so that my roadrunner account can be used for sending and receiving mail. Is this correct?

If anyone can give me a start on what needs to be done to start up a mailserver for the internet, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Fegero
