PHP/SquirrelMail/DNS ? - Problem...need help

hi, following prob:

running: FC2 with EXIM 4.43 and default Squirrelmail
I could not open some emails wihtin SM, because of a "DNS not found..."-error. but this is blah!
think itīs because of the php-restrictions. the maxfilesize for appending attachments is 2M, ok,
but when i open an email with ~600K attached there comes the error!!!!
is there somewhere a "maxopenfilesize" parameter in php.ini or whereever?...
sometimes (specially under IE6) theres a messagebox talking about unsecure objects.
under mozilla the messagebox does not appear...just nothing happens....!??

any ideas?
