PHP-nuke without MySQL and APACHE

Hi people,

Look, i am totally new into this stuff, i am just reading the book (PHP-Nuke HowTo) from its webpage so need i little help.

I`am trying to setup my own portal but dont have a server. I mean, reading the HowTo they say i have to install Apache (The web server) and MySQL (The DB server) to manage my page. Nevertheless, what i want to do i to setup my page, using PHP-nuke (Which, as far as i can see is totally nice) and upload it to a free-hosting space i have.

But, here comes the question, i am going to put MySQL and Apache into my machine to work together with PHP-Nuke, at i time to upload it, is there anyway i can do this? How? HowTo?

Thanks guys, hope u can help on this first learing PHP-nuke step.

PHPNuke requires you to upload the files in a certain directory structure and then configure your config.php in the root of that structure. In that file you have to put all your db connection info. If you can get a mysql set up where ever, connection to via command line externally, theres no reason why you cant do what you want. Granted i have never ran a nuke site on a free server i run about 3-4 of them on my paid server and they do indeed run great. My point is is that you should probably expect issues b/c the hosting is free and probably pretty locked down. If you upload to your hosting and its apache/windows with php support and you can get a mysql db up remotely and connect to it, you should be ok.

Of course performance might be a little less than desired.

mysql -u root -h myipaddressORdomain -p -D dbname
