wow, thanks, that solved ALL my problems! thank you so much for posting that. there were howerver a few things i had to fix. For one, the line he tells you to add at the end of your httpd.conf contains a path with libexec, which doesnt exist. I changed libexec to modules and it works great now
i couldnt get ssl, or any of the php pacakages working on the final php compile, so i just left them out. Everything works, and i can connect to the mysql server
now if my friggin windows xp system would burn a cd right so i could get my files and databases on my server.. after 10 tries, each a different way, i still cant get it to burn a cd thats readable in ANYTHING, even windows xp, much less redhat.. i cant wait till i have the time to get xp off of there, *yuck*
