php libgd install

hi all

i've got two servers running redhat el3, b1 and b2

b1 was not setup by me, but it has php 4.3.9 and has libgd in the configure line like

b2 has it exactly the same

but when i scroll down to the gd section of phpinfo, b1 says gd2 installed

b2 says gd1.6.2 (or higher) installed

when i go into ssh, and look in the /usr/lib directory
it is exactly the same on both machines

they both show
Code:* ->* ->* ->** ->**
they are both like that, now i know i can just install the bundled, gd, unfortunately i would prefer not to re-install php
and get it working this way

does anyone know what the problem is (and how i can fix it)?

i have restarted the server on b2, but that did nothing

any help
