PHP Developing on Fedora Core 3

Hey guys. I code PHP, and am currently using Emacs to do my writing, but I still haven't found a way to test my PHP in an internet browser with a MySQL database and Apache. I'm not sure if Fedora Core 3 comes with PHP/MySQL/Apache included or not. If so, that'll be fine. Otherwise, how could I get these tools installed? I went to http://www.php.net and saw the tarball of PHP, but I am still a n00b to Linux, and would find an rpm TONS easier. If that isn't possible, then I'll use the tarball, but any help in finding an rpm for PHP/MySQL/Apache would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
shimano55

Hi shimano55!

I think that PHP/MySQL and Apache are all shipped with your Fedora CD's. Try looking after those first. You might want also try to learn yum:

http://users.tkk.fi/~tkarvine/yum-package-manager.html

which should work right out the box with Fedora. For a general knowledge of installing .rpms and source programs in Linux, take a look into this thread:

Stick with yum though. It's always better to use something native that your distro provides. That'd get you started.

Good luck!

Fedora comes with php, apache and mysql, so there really is no need to use freshrpms. You can install them from your installation cds or from the fedora yum and apt repositories.
