Problem: /tmp/mysql.sock

Alright the problem I have is some reason PHP cannot see mysql.sock. Mysql.sock does exist under the tmp mount but the locate command doesn't even find it. How can I get PHP to recognize that mysql.sock does exist?

Quote:

checking for MySQL support... yes
checking for specified location of the MySQL UNIX socket... /tmp/mysql.sock
checking for MySQL UNIX socket location... /tmp/mysql.sock
configure: error: Cannot find MySQL header files under yes.
Note that the MySQL client library is not bundled anymore.

Thanks in Advance

That's not the problem (it finds the socket).
The problem is that you are using something like --with-mysql=yes instead of --with-mysql=/usr so go back and check what mysql options you pass to the configure script.

MySQL
./configure --with-openssl --with-isam --prefix=/usr/local/mysql --with-unix-sock-path=/tmp/mysql.sock

PHP

./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql-sock=/var/lib/mysql.sock --with-mysql --with-curl

This is so wierd I have the right configuration for mysql, I cannot figure out why mysql, php or my system is not recognizing mysql.sock. I can even see mysql.sock in my /tmp directory. Could it be corrupt and if so, is it possible to just create a new mysql.sock file?
