PhotoRec hangs during recovery

Hello all,
I am attempting to recover data off of a sata 2.5' laptop drive. It appears to have no physical errors. I have used ddrescue to create a .img file of the ntfs partiotion that is corrupt. Testdisk allows me to browse the data structure and see a file list of the photos I need. I attempted to run photorec telling it to search the drive for .jpg's and recover them. It stops running with following on the screen.
Disk ./terelaptop.img - 106 GB / 99 GiB (RO)
Partition Start End Size in sectors
P NTFS 0 0 1 12935 254 63 207816840

Reading sector 2743392/207816840, 61 files found
Elapsed time 0h01m16s - Estimated time for achievement 1h34m41

After an hour or so the program terminates with no usefule log data, when run with /log. Please advise if anyone else has encountered or resolved this?

Thanks
-Aaron
