Well I did a quick search of a couple of the forums and now I need a little help. I can print to my hp photosmart 7350 using gimp but the problem is that it won't let me change the orentation or the photo on the paper, I'll try to explain a little better. When I try to print on a 4x6 paper ,Gimp always wants to print the photo as landscape ,even tho I pick portrait, and as a result I only get half A photo, and it driving me crazy. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply ,and it seemed like such a common sense answer that I don't know why it did'nt occur to me to try it, but , that did'nt work either. I'm trying to print a 3 1/2 x 5 photo on a 4x6 paper and no matter what I do ,Gimp insists on printing it as a landscape and cutting off half the picture. I know it must be something I'm doing with the settings, but for the life of me ,I don't know what. But I know someone out there has a solution for me . Thanks again.
Yes, same here. I'm having the exact same problem printing from Gimp 2.0 to an HP PSC 2410. Annoying to say the least! I'm wondering it it's not something to do with the HPOJ driver(s) and not Gimp or the printer itself.
Opened a terminal wndow before printing from Gimp.
Actually, I had the syntax wrong as well. It was:
Code:
lpoptions -o landscape=true
and
lpoptions -o landscape=false
Also, I thought that the 'parallel' options had worked, but a gnome application was overriding it when I printed from there, so I thought it was working when it was still 'really' printing in landscape.
Problem Solved!! In the "command" and "PPD File" window of gimp print in the upper right where it has a tab that says "Set up printer" That opens a window that asks for command and ppd file. the command was apparently o k but the ppd file was not. I switched it to /etc/foomatic/hpphotosmart7350.ppd and lo and behold it fixed it. For general interest the command line reads lp -s dhpphotosmart7350. hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.
