Photo editing software

Hi, does anyone have recommendations for useful photo/image processing/editing software? I'd like to compile a list for future personal use and for our studioware project.

Used so far:

Darktable
Shotwell
Raw Studio
Gimp + RAW plugins
Photoprint

Anyone know any more?

TIA

I have been building "The Gimp" from source since the pre 1.0 version

BUT for "raw" images ??????
the current gimp is 8 bit only

it can not use 16 bit nor 32 bit images ( nor 128 bit images)

for RAW images i use "Gmic" from the TERMINAL
http://gmic.sourceforge.net/
there is a gimp 8 bit image ONLY plugin

for LARGE image data sets ( by LARGE i do mean a image greater than 8 Gigs in size)
and just large ( 2 to 8 Gig in size)
i use Nip2/Vips
( vips is also a terminal image library )
http://www.vips.ecs.soton.ac.uk/index.php?title=Nip2

i DO NOT !!! use imagemagick - except for Graphics-magick that Nip uses to open and save formats)

Gmic has replaces IM for me

My favourite one for working with RAW images is LightZone. It is written in java (hate programs written in java) but it was open-sourced a few years ago.
I haven't played with photos recently but I loved lightzone's ability to apply modifications (filters, etc) to custom-selected 'zones'.

This is what I used to use (not tried it for a year at least so whether it still builds/works I don't know):

http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/

*Edit. I just tried it on a couple of RAW files and the results weren't good in Gimp. Very noisy.

Thanks both for the suggestions

William-beckett post reported as advertising

PhotoShop dose not run well in wine

"unidentified flying RAW" works well on OLD camera raw images

the 12 bit and 16 bit to 8 bit conversion is ??? iffy

To be honest darktable is the best I've used yet. It does non-destructive edits on raw files by saving the edit info in .xmp files. It seems to introduce much less noise than ufraw+gimp. Probably because there is no need for 16-8bit conversion.

There's my advert for the day!
