perl install error: Can't locate object method "new" via package "Module::Build::Vers

I want to install perl and encounter this error:
[root@rose tmp] tar xzf Module-Build-0.2805.tar.gz
[root@rose tmp]# cd Module-Build-0.2805
[root@rose Module-Build-0.2805]# perl Build.PL
Can't locate object method "new" via package "Module::Build::Version" (perhaps you forgot to load "Module::Build::Version"?) at lib/Module/Build/Version.pm line 44, <GEN0> line 18.uname

# uname -a
Linux rose 2.4.7-10smp #1 SMP Thu Sep 6 17:09:31 EDT 2001 i686 unknown
