PDF - Simple Annotater

I did a search here and with DDG, and turned up an overload of info.

All I'm looking for is recommendations for a simple app that will view and annotate pdf files offline. So, for example:

- highlight text
- mark comments tied to original pdf text
- perhaps import images such as jpg or png

Simple, basic. Thanks.

I use LibreOffice Draw for this - but I do NOT do it very often and I have had problems with bigger/more complex PDF files. Worth a mention.

Thanks. I was hoping to come across something akin to a stripped down, simple Linux version of Acrobat Reader so that I can view and annotate from within the same app. Using Libre Draw would require opening the pdf in a separate app, no?

Thanks. Saw those. Okular seems like overkill for my simple needs. Evince apparently doesn't support annotations (which I do need).

Maybe Foxit? Anyone used it and care to comment?

Master PDF Editor is worth having a look at.

@hydrurga: Thanks. Installed it. Will mess with it for a couple of days and report back.

OK today I installed Master PDF Editor and Foxit Reader, and messed with them a bit. Initial impressions.

Master PDF is very full featured, more than I'm ever likely to want or use. As a result it is more complicated to use and will have a steeper learning curve. Not sure if it's worth it for my needs. Nice GI and seems to have a useful online manual.

Foxit Reader - Free version - is very stripped down and basic, and consequently is much easier to get up and running with. It appears not to be able to insert images, which I want, although that's probably available in the paid and enterprise versions.

Thanks for the input so far; any further suggestions appreciated.

Look at xournal

@teckk: Thanks. xournal is interesting but a rather indirect solution in that it doesn't actually work in the pdf document but creates a drawing layer that can later be merged.
