PDF encoder for Linux
Hi. I wanted to know if there's a program in Linux which encodes files into the PDF format.
I have a Canon scanner and when I bought it, I got a bundle of software with it. The primary scanner software has an Adobe PDF encoder built-in. Unfortunately it only works in Windows. :( I was wondering if anyone knew anything about something like this, in Linux. I use Kooka, for scans, in Linux, but it doesn't generate the PDF files. Any ideas? I use Mandrake 10.0, with 2.6.3.7 kernel, on 2.6Ghz Athlon. any advice will be appreciated. |
Have you looked at OpenOffice? It is able to export PDF files.

Scribus is also good for making PDF's, actually, it's really good...

Cups also has a PDF writer plugin, so you can print to PDFs from any application.

... and \LaTeX has pdflatex(1) and Texinfo has texi2pdf(1)
Trust me--when you've seen \TeX output, you wouldn't want anything else; it's *that* gorgeous. $cents = 2$ --Jonas |
