pci usb irq conflict
my usb bus is pci as hwconf and from dmesg i found both pci and usb-uhci has same irq 11. so if i insert a pendrive or any other usb device i always get
error -110. device does not take address=... i tried to change usb-uhci irq by modprobe usb-uhci io=0xe400 irq=10 but it does not work and irq remain as just before 11. the pci device 00:07.2 is the usb bus. How can i change irq of usb or pci? |
In my last post i was in misconception that my pci and usb irq has a conflict. since i saw a pci has irq 11 and so usb uhci (Universal Host Controller Interface.)
No there is no conflict in irq, rather that pci was truely the bus of the usb. My irq will be 11. How do i solve is i change the BIOS. on bios setup, when i disable the on chip usb controller my usb-uhci can not be loaded, as no controller hardware so no question of software interface. in PCI/PNP configuration i saw automatically assign usb irq disabled. after turning it enabled my usb starts working. I cannot mount pendrive, i got error -110,device is not accepting address=... i am very greateful to www.linux-usb.org especially to there FAQ. this site insists me first to check and trial with my bios. |

IRQ Conflict USB vs VGA on Intel Chipset
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, First of all, please give me an advice, and if u don't have time, don't read the output from dmesg, just pass it (it's in italics), but please tell me what to do with the next problem. I have installed a 2.4.27 kernel which works just fine. I am trying to install a 2.6.18 kernel but I can't get it to work because it keeps telling me that IRQ 16.. nobody cares, from lspci I can see that I have on IRQ 16 the agp card and also 2 usbs as here: lspci -v | grep "IRQ 16" -A4 -B4 Prefetchable memory behind bridge: dfe00000-efdfffff 0000:00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI #1 (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [UHCI]) Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. 865PE Neo2 (MS-6728) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 I/O ports at cc00 [size=32] 0000:00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI #2 (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [UHCI]) Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. 865PE Neo2 (MS-6728) -- I/O ports at d400 [size=32] 0000:00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI #4 (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [UHCI]) Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. 865PE Neo2 (MS-6728) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 I/O ports at d800 [size=32] 0000:00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02) (prog-if 20 [EHCI]) Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. 865PE Neo2 (MS-6728) -- Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 17 I/O ports at 0c00 [size=32] 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV28 [GeForce4 Ti 4200 AGP 8x] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 16 Memory at fd000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] Expansion ROM at fe9e0000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: <available only to root> So even with this (u could say) "conflict" on my 2.4.27 kernel it's working just fine, but when I compile my 2.6.18 (and even 19) kernel it just don't work.
