Question Pause shutdown on Debian

Let's say that someone clicks on the shutdown button, but a (java nohup) daemon needs to send a signal to a remote computer, how do you stop the shutdown when it starts?

You'd have to change the shutdown button to activate a script that would check for. Where that is I don't know but pretty sure one can find it.
