...which is emulated by pressing both right and left at the same time. If you're pasting into a terminal, CTRL-V is already taken, and many times (again, you don't tell us what terminal emulator you're using), what's selected won't go into bash. Which is why middle-clicking always works.
AGAIN, as with many of your other posts, you omit a good deal. You don't say what desktop GUI you're using, but all of the things you're talking about can easily be configured to use CTRL-V (or WHATEVER you want).
