Pasting copied text closes Terminal
 

I am using OpenSUSE Leap 42.2 on a Dell Inspiron 1545. Whenever I copy text, then paste it to Terminal, the Terminal automatically exits. How do I fix this?
I want to copy so I don't have to type it myself. Doesn't it just make it much faster with copy/paste shortcut?

Are you using Ctrl+Shift+V to paste?

Again, as with most of your posts, you don't say what you're actually doing. HOW are you copying the text? From what? With what keys? CTRL-C (copy) and CTRL-V (paste) work fine, and have worked that way for well over ten years now in Linux, same as in Windows.
And again...this has worked for MANY years now. Highlight with mouse...click middle button to paste. VERY well documented. Did you try to look any of this up?

I have tried CTRL-V which did nothing, CTRL+SHIFT+V which closed the terminal.
Laptop doesn't have a middle mouse.

Again..how did you COPY the text (what keys/mouse/whatever, FROM what did you copy it??)
...which is emulated by pressing both right and left at the same time. If you're pasting into a terminal, CTRL-V is already taken, and many times (again, you don't tell us what terminal emulator you're using), what's selected won't go into bash. Which is why middle-clicking always works.

AGAIN, as with many of your other posts, you omit a good deal. You don't say what desktop GUI you're using, but all of the things you're talking about can easily be configured to use CTRL-V (or WHATEVER you want).

Try Shift + Insert to paste text in the terminal

if you copy a newline, it will faithfully paste it into the terminal.
if you copy-paste
exit\n
it will exit.

anyhow, depending on the terminal emulator, various key/mouse shortcuts are in use.
