Password Protecting Root User

Mandriva Linux 2005 LE here. Initially I did not set a password to the root user because I knew that starting off I'd need privilages a lot and I didn't want to have to type a password 500 times. Now that I've got most of my software installations done I was wondering how do I set a root password now that Linux is already installed? In user administration I'm the only user on the list.
