Password for accessing the update

How to recover a computer access password. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Update cannot be performed.

would be nice to explain what do you mean by that?
What is a computer access password? Is this the BIOS, root password or something else?
What kind of update is it at all? What does "cannot be performed" exactly mean? (could not be started, failed, or ???) What did you try to update and how? Do you have an error message?

How about answering all the questions you were asked?

In Ubuntu, a password being asked almost always means your user password.
