parts of kde very slow, others not working

Once in a while I have a problem with a few programs under KDE (the ones I have noticed). These are the ones bothering me right now:

- konqueror: right-clicking takes up to a couple of minutes to respond, all konqueror windows are unresponsive during this time.

- when trying to run kile, the process starts, the startup graphic shows up on my screen, and then nothing, it stays there. when running from command line, same thing happens, no information about what is wrong. I have tried to run kile as root by accident, no problems there (works fine).

I accidentally killed X while this was going on, restarted it (went via runlevel 3), and the problem remains. The system remains mostly operational, but this is annoying.

edit: the konqueror issue includes any file browsing, including among other programs amsn.

I have found the problem, although not the reason for it. A samba share mounted into a directory in my home folder. after umounting it, everything seems to be working again.

I have the share in fstab, and remounting fails:
