There are all sorts of combinations of features available and I doubt whether I have tried them ALL but with all the ones I have tried Linux treats them exactly the same way as Windows does and vice versa.
Interesting. Not my experience at all. Any flash drive I've purchased I could create multiple partitions on Linux and read/write to them without doing anything including "flipping the fixed bit". The same flash drive will only have the first partition available for use in windows and that is the same with any flash drive from any manufacturer I have used.

The OP hasn't been back so I imagine he's come to his own conclusion so it seems pointless to continue this.
