Partition full
I partition out my system. But I underestimated how much space I needed in the /home partition and another one, which I can't remember right now (the server is at school, I'm at home). The format is ext3 for everything. It would be nice if I could just join all the partitions together is this possible? I can't lose any data, any solutions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks everyone!

no, that's not possible. it might be possibel to rearrange the partitions, but that wouldn't be an easy thing to do. if you can provide a full df output and more background info you might get lucky, i doubt it though

well, you could also backup everything, and repartition :) that would be a real bi**h but it should work

You can use 'parted' to resize the partitions. Parted is a console mode program and it's not very easy to do, but possible. If you have Mandrake installation cd (no 1), you can use it (nice, graphical partitioning tool in the installer).

BTW, for future reference - if a partition is expected to grow at unknown paces, maybe it would be useful to look into LVM. |
