partition


today, I install Linux 10. I want to find out something new in Linux. Please help me how to partition the hard drive.

Linux 10?? That's not a distribution, which are you using? You can use the search function here at LQ to find posts explaining partition or you can google it and find an endless number of sites. If you gave more information about your situation you might get more help here. Name of distribution, hardware, number of drives, any other operating systems currently on the machine?

If its a redhat version please use the fdisk command

first check your hard drive. hda, hdb, hdc or sda sdb sdc .. for scsi

fdisk /dev/hda or
fdisk /dev/sda whatever

then new
use option n

specify the size of the partition
in MB or GB

Use w
to save the partition table

partprobe
to update the kernel without reboot
