I'd like to upgrade certain components of Debian (namely, KDE) on my Debian box which is pinned with Stable > Testing > Unstable as so:
Code:
Package: *
Pin: release a=stable
Pin-Priority: 700
Package: *
Pin: release a=testing
Pin-Priority: 650
Package: *
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 600
Problem is, KDE was allready installed as stable, including it's dependancies. This means that this:
# apt-get -t testing install kde
Fails due to dependancies. And there are a whole bunch of dependancies. Assloads upon assloads of dependancies. Any tips for how to manage this?
Code:
Package: kde
Pin: release a=testing
Pin-Priority: 750
seemed to have no effect...
I've tried many combinations of googlefu and apt commands, nothing seems to do quite what I want.
In the meantime, a quick apt-get update && apt-get upgrade is happily churning through another 131 packages.
