Parsec and Joystick buttons

I just bought a supported joystick and decided I would configure the joystick buttons to be useful in Parsec (www.parsec.org). My axises work fine, but I only get two buttons to work...... so everything is working fine, but I want to use the other buttons too! How do you bind joystick events? I've tried joy2dev, but I am sick of recalibrating and doing a window dance everytime. I've tried kbstick, but that seems to freeze the game.

Very very frustrated Linux Gamer.
