Parallel execution when two MPI are present

In amd64 I had installed openmpi, raised from my .bashrc with
********************
if [ "$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" ] then
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/locallib"
else
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/lib"
fi
*********************

which mpi
/usr/local/lib

The support worked fine (compilers gfortran/gcc)
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Now also installed lam

whereby (after logout and login as user):

which mpi
reports nothing, that is openmpi is not active

Then, following command

lamboot

the lam executables are found, for example

which mpicxx
/usr/bin/mpicxx

i.e, lam should be working (not tested).

My question is, which is the most efficient procedure to have either openmpi or lam as active message passing interf?

thanks
chiendarret
