Question Paltalk protocol under linux??

HI people, I use to chat with my friends from linux using the msn and the yahoo protocol. Now some of them are switching to paltalk and I really need to chat with them in a chatroom (not only on pm's). I was looking for paltalk on google.com/linux and found some tips to run paltalk with wine. I tried it, but it doesn't work well. So I went to sourceforge.net and searched for 'paltalk' to see if there was some related software or plugin for gaim, but the serach didn't return any match. Then, on www.google.com/linux I found this site which is supposed to contain a plugin that allows people to use the paltalk protocol under gaim. The problem is that I don't know if it's a trusted site at all (and the name 'locohacker' really discourages me to use it). Does anyone know about this site?? is it trusted?? or at least is there a way to use the paltalk protocol under linux to enter chatrooms and stuff??

Thanks in advance.

Locohacker is just a name. Someone who was actually trying to hack into your system likely wouldn't assume the name. Beyond that, there are very few malicious Linux programs out there.

Ok, thanks for your answer, then I'll give it a try to see if it really works.

Hi paid2shop, as for the gaim patch for paltalk, I haven't tried it yet, but since it's a *.package package, you probable have to give it execution permissions with 'chmod +x gaim_pt_1.5.0.x86.package'and then execute it with 'sh gaim_pt_1.5.0.x86.package'; that's it. As for running paltalk with wine, I wouldn't recomment it, all you'll get is frustrations...

How To Install

Ok, kinda of new at this. Step by step, how do I do this? If possible, I would like to get this running before 5pm est, since I have an online business meeting. So, will it mean I will be able to go to the chat rooms they have on paltalk?

Agree on the wine not working with paltalk. Any other ideas for an advanced noob?

Does it come up on the plugins list or something?

Thanks in advance
