Paint programs

The GIMP does not seem to be ideal for drawing individual pixels. For example, you cannot right-click in the GIMP to paint a second color. Is there a program, similar, but more advanced than MS Paint? Must support layers and custom pallets.

I don't use any drawing programs, but hear that sodipodi,
for instance, is quite nice.

This program appears to be for vector drawings. What I need is something that can draw in individual pixels. I have tried the GIMP again, but it is too clumsy for this type of work.

Don't know of any that might be what you want.
Why don't you surf the list at

-> softwares
-> graphics

Btw, GIMP can do multiple color, just tedious (in your opinion).

Also, kpaint might be the closest to M$ paint.
