Pacman - Help creating a database in no arch system

Hi again, i will explain my problem:
I instaled pacman in a no-graphical distro diferent from arch because I wanted to have a package manager, and pacman is my favourite of all that I used, when i installed it, setted up the mirrors and tryed to download the package 'lynx', a very good text-based browser only for testing, the console sayed that the package needed all the dependencies of the basic system, including packages already installed, like gcc or linux kernel, i think that is a problem of the database, who havent the packages that i have already installed wit hthe traditional method of "make install", the problem is that a distro have thousands of packages and i dont know how to modify the database, dont know where and how i should start, some help to this poor user? Thanks in advance!

that's why the package management software is such a defining feature.

first of all we'd need to know what this other distro is.
- but really just to tell you something like this:
see, apt (just an example) has installed these base packages, and you'd have to reinstall them with pacman now (i honestly don't know if that's even possible or if the system would go bonkers - try it).

i think that LFS (Linux From Scratch) people have something to say on the topic of having installed linux (not a linux distro) and then adding package management to it.

why not just install archlinux?

Why dont install arch? well, i have a lot of reasons, one can be that i worked a lot on my system (compiled it from source, half based in lfs and alf based in arch doc) and loose it all is a option that i dont look for.

I tryed to reinstall the packages, but with all the pending dependencies and all is so dificult, i will try to solve it by the way u say, but i dont know if it will work. Thanks for the reply
