Packet too short or invalid while reading response record. (Maybe an UTF8 problem?)
Hello,
I have server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8 (Tikanga) and in my /var/log/messages the lines below are suspects :
Oct 10 06:08:09 BHN-5 avahi-daemon[3886]: server.c: Packet too short or invalid while reading response record. (Maybe an UTF8 problem?)
Oct 10 06:38:09 BHN-5 avahi-daemon[3886]: server.c: Packet too short or invalid while reading response record. (Maybe an UTF8 problem?)
Oct 10 07:05:15 BHN-5 avahi-daemon[3886]: Invalid query packet.
Oct 10 07:05:55 BHN-5 last message repeated 7 times
Oct 10 07:08:09 BHN-5 avahi-daemon[3886]: server.c: Packet too short or invalid while reading response record. (Maybe an UTF8 problem?)

This lines appear about every 10 minutes.
please let me know if anyone know about this erro?

...and the VERY FIRST HIT in Google for that error is:

...a known bug/issue with RHEL. Did you try to look this up? And, since you're PAYING FOR RHEL, you should be able to view that content on their subscriber portal, and download the patch for it.

yes its provide the ans related to "avahi-daemon"
services
# service avahi-daemon stop
# chkconfig avahi-daemon off
I will check out.

Spell out your words..it's "answer", not "ans". And again, since you're PAYING FOR RHEL, that should be a patch you have already received. Since you're an RHCE, I'm sure you should already know how to get and apply that bugfix from RHEL.
