Packages aren't installing
 

To install packages I do this:

package filesystem-9.0-7 is intended for a i586 architecture

But I have a linux OS and an i586 architecture (well i'm pretty sure I do), so why isn't the package installing!?

While I'm not at all sure that this is the problem, are you downloading the RPM for the wrong distro. I see that you're running SUSE, so maybe you're downloading RPMs for another distro like Fedora/Red Hat. That's my only guess; if this hypothesis is incorrect I have no clue what's wrong.

I got the package from the SUSE installation CD.

check rpm is original
 

match the key of RPM with original redhat key .it must match if it is original redhat package.match it with original redhat key . If it not matched then you package is not oiginal red hat package .

Ummm...how do I get the original redhat key?
And why does it have to be the original redhat package?

I belive if your package may be destorted by some third party so it is not installing properly So if you want to have a original redhat key you can logon to www.redhat.com or can have it with some rpm option with package name you will have rpm key .
