P2P for debian lindowsOS
Hi there !
I'm looking for a P2P software that actually work with LindowsOS 4. It's based on debian distro. Anyway, i've looked over the posts and found giFT. But when i try ./configure , it's says that :
LOCALHOST:~/My Documents/My Music/gift-0.11.4# ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
/root/My: /root/My: No such file or directory
configure: WARNING: `missing' script is too old or missing
checking for gawk... no
checking for mawk... mawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... no
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.
So i guess it doesn't work. And i'm log as root. So if somebody knows about a soft or what is my problem, please let me know.
Thanks and keep up the good work !

Your problem is your trying to use Lindows... LOL
But actually, really, that is the problem. Since they tried so hard to make Lindows look and feel like Windows, they basically screwed over the system for the normal installation of programs.
I'd suggest you start by complaining to them. And finish, by switing to a real linux distribution. Suse if you can afford it, Redhat if you have to download it.

right
The problem is the space between the "My" and the "Documents".
Apparenty the software cuts the string after the "My"..

/root/My: /root/My: No such file or directory

try installing it from another place (if possible and you can do it).
I would try to move the "install kit" (gurus please don't hit me) to a dir like /root/sources/gift (you will have to make that/those dir/dirs if don't have them )

And another thing,
Quote:
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
|
install gcc... (or other c compiler)

Well, thanks a lot guys !
I'll try what you said and keep you in touch. I also have that problem about the compiler with other program too so your respond should help me a lot. Maybe it's cuz of the OS but i wanna try to make it work and find my way around because i like it still.
BTW, i've installed limewire from the web site and it works just fine ! I'll try to install giFT but if it doesn't work , i'll trash it and keep LimeWire.
Thanks again , you guys are excellent !
