oversized font problems

so i'm trying out RedHat Linux and i open up OpenOffice and the fonts are HUGE too big for the app to be useable in fact. the problem also occurs in Mozilla

the "File" portion of the application menu, which is supposed to be in upper lefthand corner takes up 1/4 of the screen...literally

any help at all is greatly appreciated. thanks to all.

In Mozilla, check View>Text Size or similar. It may be set wrong. Dunno about OpenOffice.org.

i can control the size of the fonts in Mozilla fine with ctrl + or ctrl -, but i want a permanent fix for this.

did i mention that i found the problem on RedHat.com and i couldnt find a solution?

I have the same problem but only with OpenOffice

I removed it (RH9 RPM-based install) and downloaded the latest tarball from the site and even the OO.org Install (setup) has huge fonts (take up the entire screen.. they're like 250pt).

Not sure what else to do, everything is fine except OpenOffice.
