Outputting to a fake file

Really Easy question but I cannot find the awnser anywhere.

I want to run a ssh into a machine, start a torrent download and then leave it to finish.

I use this:

bittorrent-console torrent_file > Torrent_Data_File &

This creates a file called Torrent_Data_File and fills it with anything that would normally popup in the shell and starts to get very big. How can i output it to a Fake file so the data isn't saved its just dicarded? Does anyone know?

Can you use /dev/null? That's where you usually dump garbage output...
Code:
bittorrent-console torrent_file > /dev/null &
