"Out of scan range" and the screensaver-program

I have windows 98, Debian Woody Stable and SuSE 9 on separate harddisks on my computer. SuSe and Debian have both the same resolutions.
In Debian the screensaver-program works without problems but in SuSE it runs “out of scan range” indifferent what kind of screensaver I choose. Even the blank page screensaver!!!
So this is not an issue of resolution here and also insignificant of what kind of monitor and graphic card are installed, because I have tested the same screensavers that Debian uses.
There must be something wrong with the screensaver-program in SuSE.

But how to find out that?

It would be interesting to copy the Debian program into SuSE and see if it will function but that´s all to complicated.

Is your refresh-rate and color depth the same?

Thanks for your interest in this matter.
The color depths are the same, but I do not know how to find out the refresh rate in Debian, because the older KDE version in Debian's Control center does not give any information.
So how to find out that?

Now the problem is solved!

Xvidtune solved the whole problem. When I ran xvidtune I saw all the monitor-settings in Debian and could copy the same data to xvidtune in SuSE. I also copied the new modeline given by xvid_tune to the XF86Config files in /etc/X11.
Now the screensaver works in SuSE and nothing wrong with the screensaverprogram. Although the resolutions were the same as in Debian, Suse was configured wrong.
