OSS 3.9.8 Plays sound quitely on Riptide.

I need a little help over here. I recently installed OSS, and I love it! I just have a slight problem with configuration. I know it's in there somewhere. Whenever I play music, like on XMMS, I have to put the slider all the way up to hear it. And my speakers are full blast too! But it's just quieter than anything else I use my speakers with. Is there a configuration option I can't find? None are set, does anyone here know which one needs to be set to get the highest volume?

i dont know much myself however...i had this problem (when i just started with linux) and it turned out that the pcm level was way down.

my only advice is to open up a sound mixer window and check the pcm level :)

PCM level is all the way up, so is volume. My speakers do an OK volume, but not to get high enough to hear good bass and treble. on xmms, when I try changing the decibels in the equalizer, it gets crackly sounding. Could it be my speakers? They work great on everything else. Even when I had windows they worked right. Altec Lansing Speakers

Anyone have any ideas? I have no idea how to use OSS's configuration... :(

Can ANYONE help?!

Wow. That's just great. Nobody responds. I see many people have the same fate. All I'm trying to do is amplify the sound here because OSS won't, and nobody's telling me how to configure it either. I suppose everyone just avoids the hard questions. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
