OS X style fisheye effects on gnome-panels?

Hey,

I'm sure a few of you have seen this, on OS X platforms, I can only say that I've seen it in computer shops running demonstration Macs, since I don't actually have one myself :o...

But on the little quick launcher panels (usually located bottom-middle of the screen), when you hover the mouse over the icons, they enlarge, with like a fisheye effect. I was wondering if there's any program that can bring this effect (or somthing similar) to gnome (gnome-panels)?

I know that KDE's kicker kind of does it in a very unsimilar way, by having the option to enlarge the icon when hovered, but its not the same, and running KDE just for the sake of having those effects would seem a bit pointless.

Perhaps other WMs have it? I've only tried Gnome, KDE, blackbox, fluxbox, enlightenment and xfce, and I didn't see anything similar in those...

I heard a rumour that there once was a program that could do it, but Apple got to them with some copyright issues? Could gDesklets do it? I've not been able to successfully install it as of yet, or under KDE, maybe Kambar (spelling?)

Thx :)

I'm not sure about gDesklets I have heard that it can. For KDE I think you mean Karamba and yes it can do this and supports quite a bit of eye candy :)

KDE-Look, http://www.kde-look.org , has a whole section dedicated to Karamba.

Actually, I think gDesklets can do it, that app has the desired effect, though its a bit so-so on how it does it, and the 'behind' drawing is a bit dodgy (it will draw the desktop background, but not any desktop icons)

That was several hours of research.

Maybe a bit of tweaking needed :) oh, if anyones interested, holding ALT while left-click dragging it seems to move it.
